I could see this in some kind of turbo-tinker-time vault deck. 4x transmute, 4x this, mystical, power blue, 8x FoW/FoN (maybe daze) 8x(ish) keys, tinker, time vault. You can run BSC as a plan B and Tezzeret 1.0 as a plan C - and a couple hurkyll's main to hedge vs shops as well as tutor for with StE and remove null rods. You just assemble TV/key as close to turn 1 as possible and pitch-counter to prevent game losses or crippling plays. Once you get Vault/key going, your plan B or C become the win.
I tried a turbo tinker deck some time ago, but it was before FoN/Manifold Key printings. There might be enough redundancy with "mystical 2-5" now to make a go of it.
Channel/Mirror seems fun (noted not meant as competitive), but more mana constraining and less likely to just turn 1 "oops, I miser drew my combo that needs no color requirement." Lots of games have ended with "mox, crypt, land...thanks for playing". This seems to just give that same scenario a lot more probability of happening turn 2.
I believe there has been a green card printed in the last few years that has a similar effect - for the point of comparison if someone can recall the name of that card, I’d love to take a look at it.
Praetor's Council regrowths your whole graveyard and gives you no maximum hand size for the rest of the game for 5GGG. doesn't cost you your current hand in the process, and lets you keep everything you get if you somehow have to pass the turn
@blindtherapy I like the combo with this witch (also witherbloom apprentice) and chain of smog. Trying to get it to be consistent...kind of charbelcher-ish. Pulls off a lot of turn 1-2 wins with unmask leads though.
I addresses the Dreadnought issue in my first post. [[Torpor Orb]] is just better, that's why we went looking for non-creature cards that this could help. But Dreadnought isn't good enough for Vintage and I feel this effect isn't either.
Lotus Field already has [[Blood Sun]], which seems better because it's more disruptive against other opponents, draws a card and makes Field come into play untapped. My point was just that it didn't do what op thought it did and that unless we find a card that wins the game if you counter its ETB, I don't think this is good at all.
Also, one important thing: I haven't seen the Oracle text in this card yet. The way it's translated says "you can PLAY the exiled card". If by any chance this was mistranslated and it says CAST, then it's REALLY bad.
I checked the card image gallery, where wotc puts things up in english after spoilers. it's play.
that works. i'm not sure how much better green source + this beats just playing green land + crop rotation, of course.
One upside if you are looking for small edges is that the cards you reveal go to the bottom in random order, so if you note how many dredgers, forces, etc wind up down there you can update your mental math when calculating what you will draw from a Bazaar or might dredge. If you see all 4 bridges go to the bottom you may change your approach to the game.
Recent oath lists playing rune-scarred demon like this one have mostly been using it to set up a kill using underworld breach. Getting two pieces of the combo seems pretty good and can be fairly resilient letting you make a pile from breach, lotus, brain freeze or sevinne's reclamation depending on what you need/what you milled over with oath.
