@evouga This kind of response does nothing to actually evaluate the card. For the same mana Dark Petition also wins the game immediately. It means nothing. People are playing stuff like Teferi because taking control of the game sometimes is better than an all-in solution. Please put more effort into it

RE: Vintaholics Anonymous
It's not the game's or the format's fault. Game's fine, Arena is pretty great overall and there are a lot of formats to go to or proxy events to play.
It's just you guys that are burnt out by it and maybe have outgrown it. It's OK. Kinda sucks but it's a part of life. There are other formats and/or other games/activities to do out there. I've been jamming Commander, board games and Sekiro for a change, but loving how Magic looks too. Just find your place.
RE: SMIP # 65: Amokhet Vintage Set Review & B&R Fallout
It's getting annoying to have people just picking on Stevens line of thought on every fucking topic here. You can disagree, but let's stop with the tomato x tomahto bullshit please.
That said I disagree that deck + anti-deck is a bad Vintage meta. In a sense every deck played in Vintage always had to deal with the presence of the powerful trio of Bazaar/Drain/Shops. Those decks always defined the format so the format has always been a deck x anti-deck format. Having to play artifact hate or Red Elemental Blast maindeck (a 20+ year old tech) has always been here. So I don't think that's reason to restrict or ban anything. Gush is powerful but I still say the culprit for its dominance is Mentor (and CotV restricted).
RE: August 28, 2017 Banned & Restricted Announcement
@joshuabrooks A watchlist is the worst thing we can have in a banlist. Duel Commander tried this for a while and it's terrible. It makes the cards in it non-tradable and has no benefits at all - if the card in the watchlist IS banned, then there's no reason to not have banned it before; if it ISN'T banned, then there's no reason to have put it there and create fear. Really, a watchlist is a bad idea.

@fsecco That's because top players are purposely not playing shops to create the perception that everything is fine. Then the next major tournament will roll around and the top players will bust out shops showing how OP it is again lol. It happens every time there is talks of a deck/card being on the chopping block. "quick, everyone stop playing shops, lets make it seem like its not a big deal that way we can continue to run the train on everyone in the future!"
Wow. Just. Wow. Really? I give up.
RE: White Eldrazi
@prn It's just that dedicating a SB card for such a narrow use like TNN feels unwanted. Isn't this deck capable of racing Merfolk (specially since you have no islands)? Isn't something like Ratchet Bomb better and more flexible? That's my point.
I love Palace Jailer, but for me in Vintage you are either playing against decks that can steal Monarch easily (Shops, Merfolk) or against deck in which your deck is already good against (control).
Linvala also feels worse than Cursed Totem (or Null Rod). If it was a human or eldrazi, I could get behind her as a SB against shops. I just think playing WW cards that aren't human or eldrazi (for Cavern) will just dilute your manabase. I mean, I know that's the whole issue you are discussing, I just meant that spending slots to combat narrow cards seems bad to me.
RE: April 24th, 2017 Banned and Restricted update: GUSH AND PROBE/TOP in Legacy
o no @MSolymossy said I don't understand phyrexian mana, what's my life going to be now?
I think we should all calm down and play [[Portent]], the unrestricted Ponder.
RE: [AER] Whir of Invention
@Protoaddct I usually post spoiler cards here to discuss them, not to defend them as great cards. So I see no problem at all in your post. I'm just tired of people here being so up their a**es during spoiler season, meaning they can't seem to enjoy the thought experiment, just wanting the good stuff hand delivered. It's annoying and making me contemplate just quitting TMD altogether.
RE: October 17, 2017 Banned & Restricted announcement
@bobbyvictory I... disagree. And I'm not alone. So no, it's not "definitely".

RE: [MH2] Urza's Saga
I meant anything of note it doesn't get because of snow mana, etc.
oh, I mentioned chalice for X spells, but depending on how many Chief of the Foundry were in your shops deck this being able to get Walking Ballista / Hangarback Walker would have been pretty significant. stonecoil less so, but ravagering stuff onto it might beat doing the same for the others under certain circumstances.
I mean, even if it could get Ballista and Hangarback it would be useless for that since they'd just die.
RE: [MH2] Urza's Saga
@fsecco the card does get grindstone, if that matters.
I meant anything of note it doesn't get because of snow mana, etc. Chalice for 0 on turn 3 is not even that good anyway. Getting Lotus is probably the default mode.
[MH2] Urza's Saga
I think this is just incredibly strong. Will always fetch Black Lotus in 2 turns. I think it's a no-brainer in Shops, but maybe even control lists want some? It's a bit slow and colorless, of course, but the upside seems incredible.
Can also fetch Top, Sol Ring, Mana Vault, Manifold Key, etc...
RE: [LEG] Greed
I literally have no idea why you would consider Greed in Vintage. It's VERY underpowered. There are so many things better than it that I can't even list them all. Even the unplayed Fact of Fiction is better. Or Ad Nauseam, or [[Dark Bargain]] or [[Moonlight Bargain]] or [[Mazemind Tome]] or whatever.
Edit: I mean, you know that at 4 mana you can play Jace, right? Or the above mentioned Karn?
RE: [STX] Sedgemoor Witch
This will fight for slots with Pyromancer and Hydra, not Mentor. Once in play, this is clearly better than Pyro, so I wonder if the added mana is going to be too much for it to see play.
As comparing to [[Managorger Hydra]], it's hard to figure out. Hydra grows way more (unless you play a 6 storm Fluster, but dies to 1 removal... I still think Hydra outplays this, but I'm not sure. Against Stax, for example, this seems better, even if for the lifegain which can gain you a few turns. I really like it.
RE: [STX] Strict Proctor
I addresses the Dreadnought issue in my first post. [[Torpor Orb]] is just better, that's why we went looking for non-creature cards that this could help. But Dreadnought isn't good enough for Vintage and I feel this effect isn't either.
Lotus Field already has [[Blood Sun]], which seems better because it's more disruptive against other opponents, draws a card and makes Field come into play untapped. My point was just that it didn't do what op thought it did and that unless we find a card that wins the game if you counter its ETB, I don't think this is good at all.
RE: [STX] Expressive Rehearsal
Why does it matter if another card in different colors is better in a specific circumstance. Ancestral on the play is also better. The card has it's own niche and usecase and should be evaluated as such. When you play nights whisper, generally a turn 1 play is something you want it for. If you include this in your deck I don't think that is the need at all.
What deck do you see this playing in then? Because I don't think any "comboish" deck wants this (too low impact for 2 dedicated mana), and I don't think any xerox does either (too expensive for what it does).
And double color hurts, but looking at some of the other double colorless we have seen in the past few months be playable I think it is not unreasonable to think this is doable.
You can't evaluate cards by casting cost simply. All double mana cards I can think of that are played in Vintage now are pretty unique, so I don't think this works that way.
The thing is that you NEED a proactive card in your top 3 or this is useless. Maybe if it were an instant you could even dig for permission with it and make it more versatile, I guess. So what are the chances this fizzles and you just paid 2 for a bad [[Omen]] (that's an honest question)?
Also, one important thing: I haven't seen the Oracle text in this card yet. The way it's translated says "you can PLAY the exiled card". If by any chance this was mistranslated and it says CAST, then it's REALLY bad.
